Construction

Hidraulica U.M. Plopeni's gear pumps mainly consist of a pair of gears (1) and (2) rotating in a housing (3) and being supported by four axle bearings (4). The cover (5) may incorporate control elements such as valves or flow regulators. The flange (6) may be designed for holding in a radial axial bearing for gear or belt drive.

The assemblage is realised by means of the screws (7). The thrust pressure seals (8) and the shaft seal (9) provide the unit safe sealing.

Mounting and drive

Pump driving direction is marked with an arrow on the pump label, and can be determined by looking at the pump from the driving shaft end.

No radial or axial effort should be carried upon the driving shaft of a regular construction pump. For such a pump drive it is advisable to use couplings or pump drive which compensates shaft excentricity and parallelism deviations (dog couplings).

For spline sleeve drive the sleeve coupling should keep mobility axially. The distance between shaft ends will range from 2 to 3 mm and the coupling will be greased.

When the driving is achieved by elastic couplings (with bolts) the maximum excentricity between the shafts will be 0.2 mm and the parallelism deviation will range within the limits prescribed by the coupling manufacturer. For gear belt drive it is compulsory external additional bearings attached or incorporated in the pump flange.
